Watertown
offers visitors multiple attractions including the 513 acre
Thompson Park and Zoo, Boldt Castle, Thousand Islands International Bridge, Natural
Bridge Caverns, Antique Boat Museum,
Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, Fredrick Remington Art Museum,
NNY Agricultural Historical Museum at Stone Mills and the
Sci-Tech Museum. Twenty-one
State Parks are located in the Greater Watertown area as well as the Black River
Gorge which offers the best summer whitewater rafting in the Eastern United States.
The Jefferson County Historical Museum Located on 228
Washington Street between Clinton and Stone Streets. Housed in the Paddock Mansion,
circa 1878, the Society has many items on display including Victorian furnishings,
decorative art, American Indian artifacts, and Civil War memorabilia. A Victorian
garden has been recreated and a carriage barn features antique cars and farm tools.

Drum Fort Drum, located just
outside Watertown is home to the 10th Mountain Division. Fort Drum is a large
military base consisting of 107265 acres. The land that the Fort Drum military
reservation is on has been used as a military training site since 1907. The post
was designated Fort Drum in 1974 and a permanent garrison was assigned. Fort Drum
is home or work place for over 15,000 soldiers and 3000 civilians.
